Artistic Statement
“I believe in a holistic, wellness-based approach to artist training. I believe that in order for the industry and art form to change, the pedagogy that feeds it must continue to evolve. Our classrooms and rehearsal spaces present invaluable opportunities for research and development of best practices that can support more sustainable and healthier work spaces for all artists.”
~ Kaitlin Hopkins |
Kaitlin Hopkins has been the most influential artist and mentor in my career to date. She is generous with her knowledge, her time, her kindness, and her passion. She is an innovative leader in fostering artists who are empathetic, informed, malleable, resilient, inclusive, and curious. She is a master at creating and holding space for others to thrive, explore, and express the human experience through musical theatre. It has been an absolute privilege to work with Kaitlin and words can’t truly describe enough of the impact she has made. |
Words cannot express how grateful I am to have Kaitlin Hopkins in my life. Kaitlin has helped me grow into the artist I am today, and I will never be able to thank her enough for that. Her attention to mental health and overall well-being of students found is far above other programs, helping foster a community of artists with strong and sustainable practices. As a student of Asian and Latin descent, I have also never met a leader so passionate about seeking equity for all. Kaitlin has created an environment where all BIPOC students can feel safe, challenge unjust norms, and educate others on cultural differences. Kaitlin is an innovator, on all fronts. |
